Becky- your views are supported by thousands of honourable and responsible
professionals who have for years developed health promotion programs within a
social determinants framework. The key workd is "inclusive". You are inclusive
and respect other people's views on how to deal with a complex health issue
which has political, economic, psychological, sociological and ethical
determinants and cosequences. Simplistic deterministic models did not work 100
years ago and will not work 100 years from today.
Bravo! Your voice is the voice of an army of professionals who are working to
eradicate the social determinants that mitigate healthy lifestyle choices. To
say that we don't have to be concerned about people's lifestyle choices is to
disregard some of the best primary and secondary health promotion research
carried out by such respected institutions as CDC, WHO, UN and the World Bank,
to only name a few.
