                   HEALTH PROMOTION CLEARINGHOUSE
                             Coordinator

DUTIES:  The Health Promotion Clearinghouse system was
developed to provide human, material and online resources to
individuals and organizations in Nova Scotia working in community
health promotion. The Coordinator will work with an advisory
group to ensure the Clearinghouse action plan is implemented in a
manner that supports the work of partner organizations.  She/he will
assume the day-to-day operation of a toll-free information line,
respond to requests for information through phone and e-mail,
manage the resource website and database, seek up-to-date
information on health promotion topics, provide appropriate
resource person referrals, and market the Clearinghouse.  Duties
also include participating on steering committees and working
groups of various health promotion initiatives. She/he will also be
responsible for the overall management of the Clearinghouse
project, including general budget and infrastructure management.

QUALIFICATIONS:  The Coordinator should have a degree in
health, health promotion or social sciences.  Knowledge of
population health, volunteer, and community development concepts
is required. Applicants should also have demonstrated experience
with population health/health promotion initiatives. Strong
computer (MS Office) and Internet ability is essential. This job also
requires excellent organizational, written, and oral communication
skills, and the ability to work independently.  Research and
evaluation skills would be an asset.

SALARY:To be negotiated.  This is a full-time contract position.
