European Directory of Good Practices to reduce health inequalities

Website:
http://www.health-inequalities.eu/?uid=ffa8d14be92e0a8d6198c61dcaf053b6&id=main2

The directory of interventions that represent good practice can be searched
in three different ways:

-  Full Text Search find Good Practice interventions by searching for
keywords

-  Search for interventions by country

-  Detailed Search find Good Practice interventions through a combined
search for (e.g.) target groups, age groups, fields of intervention/
determinants of health, settings and quality elements.

Health promotion for socially disadvantaged persons and groups ranks highly
on national and international policy agendas. Due to restricted resources
in time, money and manpower there is an urgent need for effective and
quality-based strategies and projects. Decision-makers, actors and clients
require evidence-based and scientifically investigated interventions.

But what defines Good Practice in Health Promotion?Based on a set of
quality elements, developed and discussed for the area of ‘tackling health
inequalities’, Closing the Gap is presently carrying out a collection of
Good Practice-examples. Experts in 22 European countries identified
interventions that effectively reduce health inequalities. In order to be
included, interventions should exhibit specific selection criteria.

European Health Inequalities Portal: http://www.health-inequalities.eu/

The portal is a host to:

§         Database of Good Practice to Reduce Health Inequalities,

§         Country Profiles listing the main policies, actors and tools
developed to deal with health inequalities on a national level,

§         EU Policy Section containing Case Studies that show how EU
Policies and Programmes can affect health inequalities at the national
level, and

§         Relevant links related to the issue of health inequalities.

The Health Inequalities Portal is the tool to use when planning local
projects, understanding the policy context of these interventions and/or
conducting exploratory research in the field of health inequalities
