Hi Sheela,
Some of my bookmarks on ethnicity: http://delicious.com/robynk/ethnicity and sdoh http://delicious.com/robynk/sdoh may be useful... although as you say, there's much more biomedical research than sdoh research on South Asians!

Subject: [SDOH] info request - South Asian health disparities
Dear listserv members,
I am looking for research, resources or contacts related to the area of
health inequities affecting South Asians in Ontario or other regions to
support work of the Council of Agencies Serving South
<http://www.cassaonline.com/index3/> Asians (CASSA).
In 2008, member agencies called on CASSA to address health inequities
affecting South Asians in Ontario. Since then, CASSA held service provider
consultations in key issue areas: chronic disease, mental health, sexual
health and health-care governance. This info, supported by an initial lit
review and key informant interviews, will be compiled in a report to inform
future work.
While some biomedical research (esp chronic disease related) exists, there
is less from a SDOH perspective. The complexity of defining 'South Asian'
also brings us to different and overlapping research areas: immigrant and
refugee health, gender and health, racialization and health, specific
'populations' (i.e. Punjabi, Tamil speaking, etc.) and so on.
Any leads you can share are helpful!
Thank you!
Sheela
