Please share the following information:

African American Studies, a B.A. degree granting program in the College
of Humanities and Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University invites
applications for a tenure-track position (open rank) in African American
health care issues, minority women's health, and health disparities,
starting Fall 2005.  Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. or
equivalent education and/or experience. Training and experience in
grant-writing and community based health care required. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop a Health and Policy Sciences track
in African American Studies. Substantial teaching and research
experience in qualitative research methods and comparative health issues
preferred. This will be a joint appointment between the African American
Studies Program and the selected candidate's particular field or
discipline. Possible sites of joint appointment include but are not
limited to: School of Public Health, School of Nursing, the Wilder
School of Government and Public Affairs, School of Social Work,
Psychology, School of World Studies (Anthropology), and the Women's
Studies Program.

Essential functions of this position include: maintaining an ongoing
research program; teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate
levels; contributing to curriculum development, serving on program,
college, and university committees, recruiting students, and providing
service to professional associations and the community.

2004 and continue until position is filled.
