Greetings from Nova Scotia,

I'm writing on behalf of my colleague Dr. Gary Craig, who is a professor of
Social Justice at Hull University in England, Head of the Centre for
Research in Social Inclusion and Social Justice, and President of the
International Association for Community Development. His main areas of
interest are 'race' and ethnicity, poverty and inequality, community
development and local governance.

Gary is currently conducting a research project on multiculturalism and
social justice. He has interviewed people from various parts of the world,
and has been very interested to note that in many places, people have a
perception that Canada's multiculturalism policies mean a higher level of
social justice for settler populations, indigenous peoples, and recent
immigrants/refugees than in some other parts of the world. He is interested
in exploring how multiculturalism is understood and how it actually works in
the Canadian context.

Gary is thinking of visiting Canada in October and would appreciate the
opportunity to speak with some key informants representing senior civil
servants, people working in race relations, community activists, and people
from different ethnic groups. His thinking is to visit Vancouver, Winnipeg,
Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Nunavut.

I'm writing to you for suggestions about who Gary should speak with, to find
out whether there are any relevant conferences or meetings occurring in
October where key informants will be gathered already (to reduce travel time
and expense), and/or to get suggestions about policy documents, articles,
and books he should review. Gary and I would both appreciate your input.
Please contact Gary directly - [log in to unmask]

Best regards and thanks in advance,

Cari Patterson
