Sir:

If I were editor of "Canada's National Newspaper," I would be concerned at
the continuing embarassment of having a Health Editor whose direction of
his portfolio -- as well as his own personal column -- is trivial, banal,
and absurd. The field of health has developed at an exponential pace to
identify the mechanisms by which living conditions -- a result of public
policies -- profoundly determine health. These effects far outweight those
of "lifestyle" choices and what we put into our mouths.

While this has been known for decades by the World Health Organization --
note their establishment of an international Social Determinants of Health
Commission -- the Public Health Agency of Canada -- consider visiting their
Determinants of Health website -- and the Canadian Public Health
Association in numerous policy statements, Paul Taylor blathers on about
grafitti, fruits and vegetables, and any other inane topic he comes across
in an attempt to amuse the masses.

The time has come for this to end. Consider employing an Editor who
intellect matches his wilful ignorance of health matters.
