The Canadian Health Network: A National Health Promotion Website

A commitment to health promotion and the determinants of health is not enough, on its own, to ensure consistency in application across all of the services and actions of an organization. Translating health promotion and the determinants of health into practice can still be a challenge. When the 'organization' is a national network of 22 affiliated non-profit health and social service sector agencies, as well as federal government, different models and definitions, primary mandates and directions magnify the challenge.

Read all about how the Canadian Health Network (CHN) rose to the task, and developed a shared health promotion definition, framework and assessment tool in the Ontario Health Promotion E-Bulletin. "Creating a Consistent Health Promotion Approach in a National Network" published on Friday, March 3, 2006 in OHPE 453 is available at
 http://www.ohpe.ca/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=7231&Itemid=78.

Sources for Health Promotion Definitions that were used by CHN are available at

The first article on building the health promotion capacity of CHN was published in November 2004 in the OHPE Bulletin. Find it at;
