Carson City Nevada is discussing a "Mark Twain Weekend" for April 2023. If you were to tour Carson City, what Mark Twain locations would you like to see? The St. Charles Hotel, which he mentions in one article, and where he doubtless attended one wedding; What is, very possibly, the remaining portion of Mrs. Murphy's building where he stayed. The house his brother built sometime after Sam introduced Mark Twain (Would you want to go inside what is now a home, or just see the outside and yard?). Today's Masonic Lodge, where under glass is the Tyler's entry from Sam's 1862 visit (The building is the old Virginia and Truckee RR Station, post-dating Twain in Nevada). Anything else? It is a bit of a walk up to the house, and from there to the original home of Territorial Governor James W. Nye's so would a walking tour be good for you, or a printed driving tour guide, or some combination of these?.
Any thoughts on events they could hold for the public--lectures, readings, Twain-writing-based plays?
I am just looking to give a little input to the planners.
