I got the same email and sent him to Kent Rasmussen's book and Harnsberger's
FINGERTIPS. The construction of this simile is awkward, very unTwainian. If
it is Twain it might be one of the rejected unpolished aphorisms that appear
in some of his notebooks, but I'm doubtful.
