Bravo Coburn and O'Connell!!!  Encouraged by such postings, I am venturing
again into these murky waters....with high hopes of keeping limbs intact.
I have wanted to ask a question for some time now, but have resisted for
fear
of uncertain reception.

Besides myself, I know of at least two other Twain impersonators who are
members of the Forum/MT Circle (there may be others; we seem to be under
every rock). There are dozens, in fact, around the country.
I've read somewhere that Twain himself was plagued with an imposter he
called
"the Double" who accepted bookings (money) but failed to show up, or ran up
clothing and hotel bills, etc.

Since I would like to incorporate such material into my own shows, I am
wondering if someone here can help me find reliable information on the
Double. Were there others?  Did Twain ever address this in any of his
speeches or, more likely, in media interviews?
Would appreciate any help anyone could offer.
Warmly,

Richard Salassi
