On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Public Health
Association(OPHA), and with great regret, we would like to inform you of the
resignation of Dr. Peter Wiebe as the President of the Association. Dr.
Wiebe's current professional heavy workload and personal life do not allow
him to continue providing the attention that is required for this volunteer
position. Dr. Wiebe firmly believes in making a commitment and giving the
time required to carry out such commitments but feels that he cannot give
his full attention at this time. We would like to take this opportunity, on
behalf of the members of the Association and ten Constituent Societies of
OPHA to thank Dr. Wiebe for several years of dedicated service provided to
the Association and to the advancement of public health in Ontario.

At it's regular meeting on December 14, 2004, the Executive Committee,
guided by the By-laws of the Association, confirmed appointment of the
Vice-President, Dr. Garry Aslanyan to the position of President.
