Subject: Medical Opportunity in Ghana

Dear all,

I'm writing to inform you about an international internship opportunity to
help restore eyesight and prevent blindness in a remote village in Ghana.

Apply for the Ghana Health and Education Initiative/Unite for Sight
Volunteer Program! Contact [log in to unmask] and
www.uniteforsight.org for details.

Dates: November 1, 2004 - December 20, 2004 with optional extension until
January 15, 2005.

Volunteers will receive training and will then screen patients for operable
cataracts, coordinate cataract surgeries in an eye clinic, distribute
eyeglasses and conduct eyes health education in local schools. This
program is a continuation of a very successful Unite For Sight cataract
surgery program in Humjibre during Summer 2004.

We are recruiting for a team of four participants.

“Unite For Sight’s volunteers announced the eye clinic at church and beat
the gong gong to spread the word. As the clinic went on for the second
week, word spread to other communities, and patients came to the clinic
from as far away as two hours. Even after the clinic ended, people brought
blind relatives from long distances.” Unite For Sight Volunteer, Summer
2004,
Humjibre, Ghana

Sincerely,
Jennifer Staple
