The first one, for a Youth Team coordinator to work with a team of 15-20
young women from across the province, has been posted to other list-servs
(PAR-L, Women'space, OWHN-L), and would benefit from even wider
distribution.
The second posting is for a First Nations Program Manager to work in the

Employment Opportunity - Youth Team Coordinator
6 Month Contract, 21 hours per week  (Afternoon-Evenings and Weekends)

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is committed to working with
young people to develop programs that will prevent and treat mental illness
and reduce the harm caused by substance use.  We have an opportunity for an
energetic, dynamic team leader to work on a provincial project with youth
experts, researchers, counselors and program developers to explore the
psychosocial factors related to depression in young women, aged 14 - 17.

Reporting to the Project Manager and the Project Team, the Youth Team
Coordinator is responsible for working with a team of 15 - 20 young women
from across the province.  Together, the team will shape and carry out
activities designed to explore issues and perceptions, programs and research
around the psychosocial risks of depression in young women. Project
activities include interviews with service providers, focus groups with
young women, and preparations for a consultation workshop.  The Youth Team
Coordinator  is responsible for facilitating teamwork among the young women
to carry out project activities as they develop throughout the project.

Responsibilities:
* Regular, ongoing communication and meetings with a Youth Advisory Team in
the Greater Toronto Area. Evening and weekend work is required.
* Regular, ongoing communication with Regional Youth Advisors from Windsor,
North Bay and the Ottawa area through teleconference and email. Some travel
will be required. Expenses will be covered.
* Developing and leading training for young women to participate in various
project activities e.g., as focus group facilitators.
* Outreach to young women and women's/girls' groups, agencies and
organizations regarding project activities.
* Attendance at Project Team meetings and regular updates to Team members.

Qualifications:
* Experience working in a leadership position with groups of youth or young
women.
* Experience designing and facilitating training for young people.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* University or college education or equivalent work experience in Social
Work, Counseling, Education, Health Promotion , Human Services and/or
related fields.
* Ability to work afternoons, evenings and weekends.
* Computer skills (Word, WordPerfect, Internet).
* Knowledge of the principles of action research and issues relating to
depression in young women preferred.  Hourly Wage: To be determined.

First Nations Program Manager
Toronto, ON, deadline October 1, 1999

In this Toronto-based position, you will have the opportunity to integrate
and enhance the delivery of addiction services to better meet the needs of
all First Nations. Your duties will include identifying education
requirements and facilitating their achievement, developing the program and
service delivery, and working collaboratively with stakeholders to establish
program parameters, ensuring that the program is culturally consistent and
meets the needs of the Aboriginal community. You will have strong networking
and presentation skills, along with the ability to effectively facilitate
various research projects, and engage in education and training initiatives.

You must have a master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or a
related field and a relevant background, or have completed a bachelor's
degree or diploma program in Health or Human Services with at least 5 years
of experience, preferably in the addictions or concurrent disorders field.
Your membership in good standing, or eligibility for licensure, with the
appropriate professional body in Ontario is coupled with supervisory
talents, and an extensive knowledge of community resources and computer
databases. A valid driver's licence and a willingness to travel are
essential, as is a proven ability to collaborate on research projects and
work with Aboriginal communities.
