The Centre for Urban Health Initiatives (CUHI) is pleased to announce the
following grant competition:

Seed grants for research projects that relate to existing CUHI Research
Interest Groups (RIGs)

Monetary value – up to a maximum of $10,000

Deadline: November 1st, 2004

The CUHI Research Interest Group (RIG) Seed Grants are intended to provide
support for secondary research, literature review, and pilot projects that
will help to develop further research funding and partnerships in CUHI’s
areas of interest. Currently, CUHI has three Research Interest Groups
(RIGs):
   1. Neighbourhoods and Health
   2. Urban Physical Environments and Health
   3. Food Security and Urban Agriculture

Preference will be given to Canadian research projects that are in the
development phase and are seeking to develop long term external grant
funding, although applications for funding to contribute to partnership
development, knowledge exchange, and policy intervention will also be
considered. CUHI strongly encourages the hiring of undergraduate research
assistants to aid with research development.

Projects will be considered for up to a maximum of $10,000 in funding on a
one time basis. Where applicable, all research must be subjected to a
recognized ethics review process before the research begins. Funds will not
be released until Ethical Approval documents are received.

For application forms and guidelines, please contact the Centre Coordinator,
Anna van der Meulen, at [log in to unmask] or at 416-978-7223.
