"Health Impacts of Sprawl and How Smart Growth Can Solve Them"


The Ontario Smart Growth Network is excited to announce that our next seminar will be on the very topical subject of smart growth and public health.  Taking place at the Centre for Social Innovation on Wednesday, October 5th from noon to 7:00 pm, this jam packed session will link urban sprawl and community design to obesity, heart attacks, colon cancer, osteoporosis, respiratory ailments, safety, and mental health.  Mayor Hazel McCallion (City of Mississauga), Dr. Lawrence Frank (UBC Associate Professsor and Co-Author of "Urban Sprawl and Public Health" - http://www.urbansource.org/?id=366), Cyndi Rottenberg-Walker (Urban Strategies Inc.), Lorna Heidenheim (Ontario Healthy Communities Coaltion) and others will be discussing smart growth policy, research, community education and case studies that are helping to reduce negative health effects in Ontario and beyond.  Seating is limited to 60 people so sign up early!  Basic price is $30.00.  Half price for members of CUI, OPPI, !
