In response to the Wes Britton's question about where the royalties and
trademark money collected through CMG go:
The money generated through copyrights and trademarks go to the Mark Twain
Foundation, a relatively small organization that supports Twain scholarship,
archives, historic preservation, and other Twain-related work. The
foundation provides small grants/gifts to the Mark Twain papers, the Center
for Mark Twain Studies at Elmira College, the Hartford House, and the
Hannibal house, etc. to varying degrees. Basically, the money goes to
institutions that make it so that we can have access to all the materials of
Clemens's life.
