The 2009 Atlantic Summer Institute on Healthy and Safe Communities (ASI), will take place June 3-5, 2009 at the University of Prince Edward Island. This is the only annual event of its kind in Atlantic Canada and what an exciting program we have to offer this year!

So what’s new for this year?
•	Date change! The ASI is going to be held in June this year (not the usual August) due to the Canada Games
•	Pathways for Learning: our curriculum offers new case studies, examples, and a specialization pathway focused on Strengthening Community Action - so even if you have attended the Institute before there is new content this year that will stretch your brain and ways of thinking just a little more!
•	Keynote speaker: Bill Ninacs has lots to share about resilient communities from the angle of social and community economic development
•	Opening Plenary Speaker: Marie Burge will get you bouncing back with her upbeat presentation on community resiliency
•	Projects, Programs and Practices from around Atlantic Canada– presented in a carousel format – update your knowledge of all the great work happening in the Region
•	Site visits to Resilient Communities - Don’t just read about resiliency see it in action! Site visits to real, living examples of resilient communities on PEI – Summerside, Evangeline Region and Lennox Island

Come and connect, learn and share at the Institute and return home with new skills, ideas, contacts, a Certificate of Participation and a renewed sense of purpose for your work.
And there is still time! Catch the Early Bird rate until April 27 and save $75 off registration. Go online to register now www.upei.ca/si/si2009/en/registration.
Let’s make a commitment to work together, all sectors and all cultures, to make communities in Canada healthier, safer, stronger, more vibrant and especially more resilient!
