1. What's in this issue?

2. New format for WellSpring

3. News from the Alberta Centre for Active Living

---------------------

1. WHAT'S IN THIS ISSUE?
"The Canadian Health Measures Survey," by Dr. Mark Tremblay (Senior
Scientific Advisor on Health Measurement, Statistics Canada).

This article focuses on the upcoming Canadian Health Measures Survey. Dr.
Tremblay and his team hope to obtain direct physical measurements from a
representative sample of 6,000 to 8,000 Canadians. These data will be used
to plan health care and prevention services to meet Canadians' needs.

Dr. John Spence (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Physical Education and
Recreation, University of Alberta) outlines how this survey will affect
health practitioners.

2. NEW FORMAT FOR WELLSPRING

You will notice that we now have a new format for WellSpring, our newsletter
for health practitioners.

This new WellSpring includes one longer article, allowing a more in-depth
focus on an aspect of physical activity of interest to practitioners.
WellSpring will also be published more often--six times a year instead of
the current three times. Watch for our next issue in December.
