All about Advocacy Workshop

Advocacy is about creating large-scale change. Advocates have a strong desire and passion to change society for the better.  Acting on their passion and vision, they go beyond wishing that things would change to actually working to putting their words into action.

This is a workshop about how to do it.  It will introduce the topic, explain the process and through step by step instructions, tools and experiential learning exercises, transmit the knowledge needed to undertake an advocacy campaign.

For:

Those interested in strategies and tools to create social change, health promoters and non-profit organizations.

Learner Objectives:

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

1. Define advocacy

2. Identify the steps in the advocacy process

3. Distinguish advocacy from related concepts such as information,   education, social marketing, etc.

4. Set an advocacy objective for an advocacy campaign

5. Undertake issue analysis by mapping power dynamics and relationships

6. Identify a target audience and analyze their interest in an advocacy issue

7. Tailor a message according to the interests of a target audience
