Promotion and Communications Specialist, Women Affiliate, Canadian Health
Network

womenshealthmatters.ca at Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences
Centre, is the Women Affiliate for www.canadian-health-network.ca (an
initiative of Health Canada). We are currently seeking a Promotion and
Communications Specialist to build and sustain an audience for the Women
Affiliate of the Canadian Health Network.   This is a great opportunity to
work with a dedicated team of women's health experts to increase access to
reliable women's health information. Location: Toronto.

5 days a week.  Contract to March 31, 2005 with strong possibility of
renewal at 4 days per week for two years to March 31, 2007.

The Promotion and Communications Specialist:

*       Plans, implements and evaluates the Women Affiliate marketing plan
*       Coordinates the development and execution of all promotional and
media campaigns (event coordination, public speaking, advertising) related
to the Women Affiliate
*       Coordinates the development of women's health articles for the CHN
*       Takes responsibility either directly or through direction for the
writing, editing, design, production and distribution of all print/web-based
documents related to the Women Affiliate
*       Plans and executes a media strategy, including researching and
writing articles and press releases to raise the profile of the CHN and the
Women Affiliate
*        Scans the internal and external environment to identify
communication opportunities and issues

Knowledge and Experience Required:

*       Knowledge of women's health issues and women's health community
*       Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills
*       Understanding of web based health information services
*       Excellent organizational and time management skills
*       Computer literacy - Microsoft Office suite
*       Experience developing a communications strategy, preparing press
releases, and the implementation of a media relations program
*       Ability to collaborate extensively with non-profit organizations,
government and other team members
*       Excellent attention to detail, and proof reading and editing skills
*       Results-oriented individual, able to meet deadlines and work both
independently and as a team player
*       Basic knowledge of health promotion principles

Educational Experience
Bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent in Public Relations or
Communications.  Three years practical experience developing and
implementing communications and marketing plans.

Salary Range:   $50,000 - $52,000 per annum.
