Participate in one of CBCN's upcoming National Meetings of Young Women with
Breast Cancer, Advanced Breast Cancer, and Rural, Remote and Northern Women
with Breast Cancer!

CBCN will be holding three national meetings in the near future, one for
young women with breast cancer, the second for women with advanced breast
cancer, and the third for rural, remote and Northern women with breast
cancer. By attending one of these national meetings, you will have the
exciting opportunity of making a multi-year commitment as a member of a
CBCN advisory group.

Dates, work to be accomplished and criteria

March 12-13: Two-day national meeting of young women with breast cancer and
key representatives of partner/member groups working on issues related to
improving access to information and support to young women with breast cancer

April 2-3: Two-day national meeting of women with advanced breast cancer
(recurrent & metastatic) and key representatives of partner/member groups
working on issues related to improving access to information and support to
women living with advanced cancer

April 16-17: Two-day national meeting of rural, remote and Northern women
and key representatives of partner/member groups working on issues related
to improving access to information and support to women with breast cancer
living in rural, remote and Northern areas

Criteria for attending and a short description of work to be accomplished

Two-day national meeting of young women with breast cancer
Two-day national meeting of rural, remote and Northern women with breast cancer

Ideally, there will be two participants from each province and territory.
Priority will be given to breast cancer survivors who are active members of
CBCN partner/member organizations or involved in other breast cancer/cancer
groups in their communities.

You will have homework: for young women and rural, remote and Northern
women, this will consist of reading and reflecting on our "Nothing Fit Me:"
The Information and Support Needs of Canadian Young Women with Breast
Cancer and The Perspectives of Rural Women with Breast Cancer respectively,
and the National Strategies and Action Plan related to the appropriate report.
During the meeting, you will be asked to reflect on the information and
support needs expressed in the reports and to think about how access to
information and support can be improved through implementation of the
National Strategies and Action Plan. You will then be asked to discuss
activities related to implementation and to prioritize them.

Advanced Breast Cancer

The national meeting or women with advanced breast cancer will provide an
opportunity for participants to identify unmet information and support
needs and to suggest activities or projects to improve access. You will
also have the opportunity to test a new Navigational Tool for women with
advanced breast cancer.

All national meetings

Priority will be given to participants who agree to be founding members of
one of the following three committees:

CBCN Advisory Committee on Young Women with Breast Cancer
CBCN Advisory Committee on Rural, Remote and Northern Women with Breast Cancer
CBCN Advisory Committee on Advanced Breast Cancer

These committees will meet regularly over the next three years by
teleconference and will advise CBCN on the implementation of activities
resulting from the national meetings.
