Last Friday, I noticed an intriguing brief announcement in the OHPE
Bulletin #415.0 about a new online forum for people involved in 'community
health':

Join CHNET-Works

Practitioners, policy/decision makers, and researchers involved in
community health are invited to join CHNET-Works!, a national, online
forum. For more information visit http://www.chnet-works.ca/.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just visited the site, and after perusing the Background and Tools, I'd
like to encourage CLICK4HP list members to take a look, comment on it here
or on the site and join in. CHNET appears to be geared primarily to
nurses, with an 'open door' to anyone working in community health to
engage in building connections.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Background
The CHNET-Works! Project is about the development of a networking
infrastructure among community health nurses, researchers, and
decision-makers.

A needs assessment confirming support for the network was completed in
February 2004 with support from the Canadian Health Services Research
Foundation. Further consultations by an interim Steering Committee
identified priority needs and suggested the kinds of networking tools that
could best support these needs.

Phase 2 of the CHNET-Works! Project is now piloting selected networking
tools intended to build links between community health researchers and
decision-makers and to bring a credible nursing "voice", informed by
research evidence, to the decision-making arena.

 The following "tools" are available on the CHNET-Works! web site :

    * Flash Polls
    * Discussion/Debate Panels
    * Advisors on Tap
    * Commentaries on Emerging Issues

Each of these tools is linked to a "discussion board" where CHNET-Works!
participants can add their comments or questions, enter into dialogue with
other CHNET-Works! users and share helpful resources or experiences.
