In The Mind's Eye 2007: Issues of Substance Use in Film + Forum
September 19-November 30, 2007
www.inthemindseye.ca

The Waterloo Region Community Safety & Crime Prevention Council is pleased
to announce that In The Mind's Eye 2007: Issues of Substance Use in Film
+ Forum opens September 19 and closes November 30. More than 50 free
events over 10 weeks-- made up of films, workshops and keynote
speakers--mean there really is something for everyone.

All events occur during the week, during the day and evening at locations
throughout Waterloo Region. All events except three dates at the Princess
Twin Cinema are held free of charge (pay what you can).

In The Mind's Eye 2007 is unique in North America and provides a very rare
and real glimpse into the world of substance use and abuse. This is truly
an exceptional opportunity available no where else. Two thousand people
attended the 2006 series.

Featuring Canadian films from Glace Bay, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Regina,
Vancouver plus films from Australia, Bolivia, Cambodia, China, England,
Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Scotland, Switzerland, Ukraine, United States and
more. This may be your only chance to see these films, many of which are
premiere performances. A summary of film events is listed below.

Additionally, more than 30 workshops and keynote presentations bring the
best of the world to Waterloo Region, with guests coming from Vancouver,
Chicago, Montreal, and Toronto plus experts from within our local
communities.

The economic burden of drug and alcohol use in Canada is more than $22
billion. More than half of the costs of the criminal justice system are
related to issues of drugs and/or alcohol. The impact on individuals,
families, workplaces and neighbourhoods is significant. In The Mind's Eye
raises critical issues, and innovative solutions.

The full 2007 schedule, registration and volunteer information is now on
the web: visit http://www.inthemindseye.ca

In The Mind's Eye 2007 is produced by the Substance Abuse Committee of the
Waterloo Region Community Safety & Crime Prevention Council in
collaboration with Region of Waterloo Public Health.

This is a rare opportunity not to be missed.
