"Getting Started with Self-Help Groups" A FREE 2-hour Distance Education
Workshop
Date: Monday, September 24, 2007 Time: 7:00-9:00pm.
Location: across Ontario by web and telephone
To launch Self-Help Awareness Week 2007, the Ontario Self-Help Network
(OSHNET) is offering its first ever distance education workshop.
Participants will simultaneously log-on their computers and talk on the
phone to participate in this unique interactive learning opportunity. The
Ontario Self-Help Network has been helping individuals launch all types of
self-help groups across Ontario since 1992.
OSHNET designed this new introductory level workshop for Ontario residents
(from all walks of life) who are interested or involved in starting a
self-help support group.
Members of a self-help support group share a common life experience and come
together for practical support, emotional support and information exchange.
From the convenience of your home or office, participants will learn:
- What is a self-help/peer support group?
- 10 steps to start a group in your community.
- Key tips for keeping your group on track
All participants will need access to a computer with Internet connection
(dial-up or high speed) and a phone (toll-free teleconferencing will be
provided).
