Workplace Health Challenge Co-ordinator
Ontario Association of Youth Employment Centres (OAYEC)
OAYEC - The 'go to' organization for Youth Employment issues, is seeking an energetic, high-spirited, team player with a passion for health, physical activity and its promotion in the community . We are a non-profit, charitable organization serving over 70 community-based youth employment agencies across Ontario - in our 17th year of supporting and advocating for a sustainable youth employment delivery network.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Workplace Health Challenge Coordinator will conduct preliminary research through consultations with stakeholders, complete a marketing plan, and launch a recruitment campaign that will encourage OAYEC members to participate in a healthy workplace challenge. You will be responsible for participant recruitment, training, communication, tracking and reporting and will assist in the co-ordination of an additional sponsored fitness event. The Workplace Health Challenge Coordinator position demands a highly versatile individual with a good understanding of workplace health promotion principles and practices. The ability to develop systems, resources, processes and experience in community-based program development is also an advantage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Manager, Knowledge Transfer, you will:
· Conduct consultative research with member centres to determine program needs, values and capacity
· Recruit and facilitate an Advisory group comprised of diverse stakeholders and experts, as well as agency-based team leaders in each community across the province
· Create a flexible training and tracking program that informs an excellent reward and recognition plan
· Work with marketing/design specialists to develop communications strategy including graphic design and print collateral
· Collect, analyze and communicate monthly statistics on team participation/fitness goals
· Compile monthly e-bulletins to be sent to program participants
· Work within specified timelines and report regularly to supervisor and funder
· Participate in team meetings, planning sessions and other duties as required
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
· University graduates preferred
· Experience in health promotion, exercise prescription, nutrition and/or physical education
· A sound understanding of mainstream nutritional principles, workforce development and change management
· Facilitation skills are essential
· Superior communication and interpersonal skills required
· Strong ability to organize, plan and multi-task
· Ability to work well in a team environment with diverse stakeholders
CONDITIONS
· 35 hours per week
· Position duration: 14 month contract
· Some travel required
· Salary $42,223 -$46,617
