NEW FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES FROM THE CTCRI AND ITS PARTNERS
The CTCRI announced the re-launch of its Knowledge Synthesis grant program
There is a one time award up to $80,000 to support original reviews and
identification of "better practices" to prevent, treat, or otherwise control
tobacco abuse and nicotine addiction.
The deadline for Letters of Intent (LOI) is April 1, 2004. Applicants of the
successful LOI will present full proposals by October 1, 2004. This is a

Individuals presenting their research at the conference may be eligible for
travel support through the CTCRI. Check our website at

April 5!

competitions!

POLICY RESEARCH GRANTS www.ctcri.ca/en-pages/desc-policy-grants.htm
Grants of up to $65,000 per year, for up to 3 years, are available for
eligible research that fall within the scope of tobacco control policy, such
as:
        · The full policy process from agenda-setting and decision-making,
through development and implementation, enforcement, evaluation and
refinement;
        · All areas in which policy might be used to influence tobacco use,
including fiscal, legislative, regulatory, and educational policies;
        · Public and private policy at all levels of government/locale;
        · Both supply and demand issues relevant to tobacco use reduction.

IDEA GRANTS PROGRAM www.ctcri.ca/en-pages/idea-grants.htm
Grants of up to $50,000 for 1 year are available through this program to
support pilot testing of research methods, tools or hypotheses, or
exploration of a novel idea which falls outside the normal scope of
traditional research either in topic or methodology and might therefore be
regarded as speculative or risky.
