RE: Opportunity for further input to Best Practices Portal for Health
Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention
We are approaching the next milestone in the development of the Best
Practices Portal for Health Promotion
and Chronic Disease Control and wanted to offer you the opportunity to get
involved and help shape it.
Outlined below are the two current options:
1. We have created a "Content Review Committee" that will be the on-going
group to assess any content to be
posted to the Web site. There are approximately twelve current members
selected from the Steering
Committee, the Portal Working Group and the Methodology Working Group. We
would like to invite you to join
this committee as our "voice of reality".
Teams of two would be created and asked to independently review, in an
on-line format, the proposed content.
An orientation would be provided to reviewers on the protocol. As you might
imagine, there will be several
pieces for each pair to do between now and the launch this Fall (likely the
bulk of it coming between June and
August). After that, the committee would be called upon as new or revised
content is needed. We would like to
have the committee get through this initial batch of reviews and then
re-examine an on-going role based on the
inaugural experience.
2. We are recruiting end-users to participate in usability testing of the
Portal (mid-July). The process would take
place in one of the following manners:
a) a structured in-person hands-on interview (in Ottawa) of 60-90 minutes to
address the usability of the Web
site; or
b) an online usability interview to be conducted using remote software
(WebEx technology) to allow us to
conduct research with a range of end-users from across Canada. An honorarium
will be issued to those
participants involved in usability testing.
We are anxious to confirm the people involved in both of these tasks as soon
as possible, in case we have
to recruit through another means. If you have any questions, please contact
Nina Jetha at

We would appreciate your confirmation as to whether you would like to be
involved in one or both of these
opportunities by JUNE 20th, 2006.
Sincerely,
Marie DesMeules, A/Director
