Who was Ruth Cooperstock?
Ruth Cooperstock was a medical sociologist and feminist who did
pioneering work on psychotropic drug use and the prescribing patterns of
physicians. A popular teacher and researcher at the University of Toronto
and the Addiction Research Foundation in the 1970s and 80s, Ruth
Cooperstock
left a legacy in the form of her work on sex differences in the use of
mood-modifying drugs, work which is still cited today.

This event honours the 20th anniversary of her untimely death from
breast cancer in 1985.
