We are thrilled to announce our distinguished keynote and featured speakers
for this year’s conference. 

Gro Harlem Brundtland

Former Prime Minister to Norway (1986-1989, 1990-1996), former Director
General of the World Health Organization (1998-2003), Health Policy Fellow
at Harvard University, and member of the United Nations' High Level Panel on
Threats, Challenges, and Change.

Richard Lessard

Director of Public Health of the Montreal Regional Health and Social
Services Board, headed the Community Health Department of the Cité de la
Santé de Laval (1982-1992), member of Canada's National Forum on Health
(1994-1997), public health consultant for the Department of Health and
Sustainable Development of the World Health Organization in Geneva
(1998-1999).

Francisco Armada (Featured Speaker)

Our featured speaker is currently the Minister of the Department of Health
and Social Development, Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Regional Director
of the National System of Health for the State of the Amazon (1994 - 1996),
Technical Advisor to the Presidential Commissions of Social Security (2001 -
2002), General Director of the Environmental Health and Sanitary Finance
Office (2002 - November 2004).

REGISTRATION RATES FOR NEW ISUH MEMBERS

If you are not yet a member of the International Society for Urban Health,
you may join now and enjoy savings on your membership fee and on your
conference registration. The reduced membership fee represents a 20% savings
for standard membership and a 25% savings for students. Savings can be
further maximized by joining through 2006. This membership includes a
subscription to the Journal of Urban Health, which is published quarterly.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY – ONTARIO HIV TREATMENT NETWORK (OHTN) 

The Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) is offering scholarship support for
up to 25 community members from the HIV sector to attend the 4th
International Conference on Urban Health. Scholarships may be used to cover
the cost of conference registration, travel, and accommodation. The new due
date for applications is September 16, 2005.
