Looking Back, Thinking Ahead: Using Research to Improve Policy
and Practice in Women´s Health
March 15 - 18, 2009
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Women´s health research and policy in Canada has been growing and
evolving in recent decades, a process that has been fostered and enhanced
by the federal government´s investment in the Women´s Health
Contribution Program, the investment in research chairs in women´s health,
and a growing recognition of the value of gender-based analysis in
research, policy and practice.
Despite the importance of women´s health issues and the tremendous
strides made in knowledge generation and translation in this area, it has
been many years since Canada hosted a national or international
conference on women´s health research and policy. The purpose of this
conference is to celebrate the developments in women´s health, and to look
forward to new directions.
Keynote address by Michele Landsberg, speaking on feminism and
women´s health in Canada.
Plenary speakers include Lorraine Greaves, Joy Johnson, Ellisa Johnson,
Jessica Yee, Billy Rogers, Theda New Breast, Marion Stevens and Anu
Pillay.
