Employment opportunity at Inter Pares: Inter pares builds relationships
with people and organizations, in Canada and overseas, who share an
analysis that poverty and underdevelopment are caused by structural
inequalities between nations and within nations, and who are working to
promote fundamental change in their communities and countries.   The
position of program officer is now open.  This staff supports
organizational strengthening with counterpart organizations in policy
development, networks with national and international NGOs, and develops
and administers programs in areas such as peacebuilding, food security,
migration, democratic economy, control over local resources, and women's
health. The program officer develops and implements strategies to work
for justice through research and analysis, fundraising, linkages,
development of new programs, organization of educational events, writing
and publishing, and political and organizational representation.  The

CIDA launches International Cooperation Days 2004: The Canadian
International Development Agency (CIDA) is pleased to announce the
launch of the International Cooperation Days 2004 web site. This third
international forum will be held at Ottawa's Congress Centre November 1,
2 and 3, 2004. The conference will allow practitioners, stakeholders and
decision-makers active in international cooperation to meet and discuss
reducing poverty in the context of the global roadmap for change: the
United Nations Millennium Development Goals.  CIDA invites you to browse

Employment opportunity at CCIC: The Canadian Coalition for International
Cooperation is seeking to fill the position of Program Officer –
Africa-Canada Forum.  CCIC is a coalition of Canadian voluntary sector
organizations working globally to achieve sustainable human development.
CCIC seeks to end global poverty, and to promote social justice and
human dignity for all.  The Africa-Canada Forum (ACF) of the Canadian
Council for International Co-operation (CCIC) brings together NGOs,
churches, unions and solidarity groups from across Canada that have a
specific interest in development issues and social justice in Africa.
Its purpose is to strengthen the work of its members through joint
reflection and analysis of current issues affecting Africa, and the
co-ordination of policy development and strategies for joint action and
advocacy, in dialogue with African counterparts and colleagues.  The
application deadline for this position is October 20. 2004.  For more

Canada-US Fulbright Program call for applications:  The Fulbright
Program engages exceptional scholars from more than 150 countries
worldwide in educational exchange.  Among the fastest growing of the
bilateral exchanges is the Canada-US Fulbright Program, offering
Canadian scholars the unique opportunity to explore contemporary issues
relevant to Canada and the United States and the relationship between
the two countries.   Applications in the following areas are especially
encouraged: comparative public policy; international trade; North
American integration; urban and regional planning; security;
communications; culture; ecology and the environment; indigenous issues;

Johns Hopkins fall institute in health policy:  From November 15 to 21
2004, Johns Hopkins will host the institute in health policy in
Barcelona, Spain.  The following topics will be covered: risk assessment
and management of environmental, occupational and nutritional health;
health inequalities and community health; advanced methodological
techniques; and, patient outcomes and quality of health care.  For more

Public Affairs Association of Canada conference: The conference
entitled, 'Art and Science of Public Affairs', will be held in Toronto
at the Sutton Place Hotel on October 25, 2004.  The conference is

Panel presentation on Canadian Development policy and HIV/AIDS: PATH
Canada and Interagency Coalition on AIDS Development (ICAD) invite you
to attend a Panel Presentation on Canadian Development Policy and
HIV/AIDS.  The presentation will take place on Friday, October 22, 2004
at the Byward Suite, Les Suites Hotel, 130 Besserer Street Ottawa, ON.
The morning panel is focused on global issues around HIV/AIDS and
development featuring speakers from outside organizations. The afternoon
panel is focused on the interface of HIV/AIDS and nutrition, malaria and
