The HPO executive was thrilled with the response to its 20th anniversary
conference, May 10-11, 2007. Sixty-eight Health Promoters from across
Ontario gathered in Toronto and shared ideas, learned from keynote
speaker John Garcia, and panelists Ronald Labonte, Pegeen Walsh, Paul
McDonald, and Suzanne Jackson. The conference also featured
presentations by Alycia Fridkin, Brian Hyndman and Gayle Bursey on
Health Promotion Competencies.

It was an excellent conference, with terrific discussion, provocative
ideas, great resources and programs highlighted, and fine company of
diverse health promoters. Here's a highlight: Ron urged us to practice
"socially responsible hedonism". I'm off to put that into practice!
