Beginning at 00:00 thru 06:00 hours Sunday June 23rd., 1996 the main
core router (plan9.gw) supporting the York Backbone Network will be
replaced by a new router.
All the following services will be unavailable: petrie trusted
network access (subnet 232), telecom trusted access (subnet 144),
atkinsontowerII trusted access (subnet 220), ccsvms trusted access
(235), ccis trusted access (subnet 237), all internet access to and
from York's domain network, all central machine room FDDI and ethernet
access (subnet 236), all remote syncronous and ISDN access, all
access to and from Glendon College will be affected. Note there will
be no DNS (Domain Name Service or name resolution) during the entire
shutdown period.
The primary reasons for the upgrade are performance and expansion
enhancements as well as providing a fully redundant self contained
platform.
