Position: Research Officer, Department of Public Health Sciences, Faculty
of Medicine

Hospital Involvement in Community Action Project

Position Summary:  The Research Officer will assist in the completion of
Phase I in-depth qualitative case study research, including data
collection (focus groups & personal interviews), interview guide
development, data coding and analysis using Nudist/Nvivo software;
participates in the production of descriptive data summaries; assists in
preparation of Phase I report and related deliveries.

Type of Appointment: This is a 7 month full-time contract position with
the possibility of renewal. This is a United Steelworkers of America
(USWA) Job Posting .

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's research degree in a Social Science or Health field (e.g.,
sociology, social work, anthropology) or equivalent combination of
non-research or professional Masters degree (e.g. health promotion) and
research experience. Minimum 2 years experience in relevant social science
research, particularly qualitative research.  Prior experience with
community-based action research would be a definite asset.  Experience
with large multi-site interdisciplinary research studies; conducting data
collection and management in secure settings.  Demonstrated ability to
work effectively with ethno-culturally diverse communities a definite
asset.  Experience operating computers, reference management and
qualitative analysis software; web page design/maintenance skills,
knowledge of the healthcare system (particularly hospital environments).
Ability to speak French an asset.
