Hello:

RE tools to engage people on a PAR/food insecurity. On a similar project
some years ago here in Northern British Columbia, we developed "food
diaries" - This were pages with beautiful drawings (done by a student
researcher on the project) as borders and had question /sentence prompts
at the top of the page to encourage people to write about their
experiences with food - in case of literacy issues, they could also
draw, collage, what ever. People wrote on such things as favourite food
from childhood, etc.

These Diaries, when completed were full of insights, started great
dialogues and were actually very beautiful.

Also, recently with a dear friend and colleague, we designed and
developed a story telling workshop which encouraged groups working on
diabetes prevention projects to tell the story" of their work, going
back to our story telling roots.

Subject: [SDOH] Food insecurity

We are currently in the process of doing a project using participatory
action research focusing on food insecurity. We are targetting those
receiving food vouchers, food assisstance from various agencies.
This is in the Blue Mountains, in NSW Australia.
Has anyone done anything similar to this? We are especially interested
in tools for dialogue to engage people.
Thanks
Alejandra Martinez
