Dear Mark Twain Forum Members,

Since the end of November, a discussion ostensibly regarding commercial
postings has taken a disturbing and negative turn. It was my hope that the
discussion would conclude swiftly and peacefully, and that we could move on
to more relevant topics.

I ask that all parties involved voluntarily cease posting messages in this
current negative thread of apparently irreconcilable personal and
professional differences. It is time for the Forum to return to the civil
and courteous discourse one expects of mature adults.

Since its inception in 1992, the Mark Twain Forum has operated primarily as
a self-regulating discussion group. I do not intend to control the flow of
discussion through censorship. If members of our group cannot show restraint
and respect, I will assume that the Mark Twain Forum has outlived its
usefulness and will have no choice but to terminate the list.
