One of the key areas of efficiency involves contributions made by people in
the family and in the community. If all are working, the community
contributions markedly diminish. There are reasons why Utah is one of the
most efficient and equitable places in the US, and why rural locations tend
to be more efficient.

When families are intact and neighborhoods and churches contribute and
people are involved, things work much more efficiently.

When women can be at home or can work out of the home location it is
helpful, for those with children

Asian families are particularly successful and a lot of this has to do with
the above implementations and larger households.

When women can work and be at home and share the work with other women and
teens, things can work well.

When both husband and wife work and come home exhausted and there is no
extended family around.....

Academics is a great choice for lower and middle income types. Academics
offers reasonable pay and maximal flexibility in hours. This is a nice fit
for those who realize that it is no easy task to be a professional and find
the right spouse and keep the kind of home life that allowed you to excel
and become a professional and that will allow you to do much the same with
your children. Signficiant increases in FP faculty in recent years have
been Black or Hispanic and white females.

FP is being wiped out in many of the most expensive areas in the US, as are
most forms of primary care and service oriented professionals. Hard to pay
the cost of housing, overhead, salaries, etc in such locations.

FP, teaching, public servants, etc. do better when costs are lower, support
for education and people are better.

When costs of day care and transportation and parking and housing get too
high, it can be better for one to work with one to stay at home.
