POSITION SUMMARY: 

The successful candidate will coordinate a 5-year study examining the social determinants of newcomer health in St Jamestown.  This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the project, providing appropriate leadership and liaising with multiple community and university partners.

Under the direction of the CEO, this position organizes and supervises day-to-day activities of the St Jamestown Newcomer Study. These responsibilities include: collaborating with community and academic partners to develop appropriate methodological approaches and protocols; working with partners to collect, analyze, synthesize and share data; managing the project budget; collaborating with other members of the Wellesley staff; drafting regular reports; organizing community forums; supervising research assistants, interns and students; and organizing and supporting an advisory committee.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Research Tasks 
	*	Collaboratively develop data collection instruments and protocols with a variety of stakeholders;
	*	Collect qualitative and quantitative data; 
	*	Develop and maintain appropriate data collection and management protocols;
	*	Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis;
	*	Synthesize information and write regular reports;

Administrative tasks 
	*	Supervise and work in collaboration with community interns, academic partners, students and support staff;
	*	Manage project budget;
	*	Develop and oversee execution of work plans, goals, objectives, priorities and timeframes in collaboration with the CEO and advisory committee;
	*	Develop regular reports and updates for board and CEO, and community at-large;
	*	Develop and implement effective dissemination and knowledge exchange strategies to communicate with St Jamestown residents, elected officials and academics;
	*	Spearhead appropriate ethical review applications;

Partnership tasks 
	* Facilitate effective partnerships with community-based organizations, academics, practitioners, policy makers and funding agencies engaged in work related to urban health; newcomer issues; and St Jamestown. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED 

Preference is for a PhD in a relevant urban health field or a Masters with several years of experience. Ideally, the candidate will have research management experience or a background relevant to the position with administrative experience. Experience in building relationships with a broad range of stakeholders in diverse communities and organizations is considered an asset. 

Expert use of Internet technology and networked computer systems, including email, web browsers, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access); Experience with qualitative (Nudist) and quantitative (SPSS/SAS) analysis software
