Call for Presenters - 24th Annual Conference April 8 & 9, 2005

The Ontario Gerontology Association (OGA) is pleased to invite
practitioners, educators, researchers, clinicians, administrators,
seniors and students to submit an application for the purpose of
presenting at the 24th Annual OGA Conference. The conference will be
held Friday evening, April 8 and all day Saturday, April 9, 2005.
The Conference provides an opportunity for individuals from all
disciplines, with an interest in aging issues, to share with others
their program initiatives, applied research and clinical practices in
the field of aging.
ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS
OGA welcomes abstracts for papers, posters and workshops. Each format is
considered to be of equal status. First-time presenters are especially
invited; OGA will offer limited editorial support in abstract submissions.
Abstracts may be submitted from the OGA website
http://www.ontgerontology.on.ca/ or can be downloaded on PDF or WORD
file and sent as an email attachment to: [log in to unmask] If
necessary, call the OGA office (416-535-6034) to receive a copy of the
submission form.
Applications must be received no later than November 1, 2004.
Information will be sent to all accepted presenters by December 10, 2004.

OGA 2004 Fall Training Day November 17, 2004
OGA is presenting a day of “hands-on workshops” on Wednesday, November
17, 2004, at Hazelton Place, 111 Avenue Road, Toronto.
This is a special opportunity for individuals working with older adults
to gain skills, knowledge and practical approaches that can be used in
everyday work situations. Three training streams consist of: mental
health and addictions, risk management and overlooked populations.
The day will be introduced by “If Not Now, When?” a video developed by
seniors addressing their issues, followed by concurrent sessions on each
of the three themes. Topics include: “Dementia, Depression and Drugs:
The Challenges: The Directions”; “Development of an Addiction Treatment
Group for Older Adults”; “Problem Gambling”; “Elder Abuse”, “Falls
Prevention”, “Continence Issues in the Elderly”, “Supportive Housing”;
“Aging with Developmental Disabilities”; and “Working with GLTB
Populations”;
