*	Contraception for HIV-Positive Women

New in 2006

Here are a few examples of important resources added to the knowledge
base in 2006:

Best Kept Secret in PMTCT: Contraception to Avert Unintended Pregnancies
Global AIDSLink, May/June 2006

Increasing access to voluntary contraceptive services needs to be an
integral component of HIV prevention efforts if the UNGASS goal of
reducing infections in infants is to be met.

Target of Opportunity Final Report: Meeting the Reproductive Health
Needs of HIV-Positive Women: Using Evidence to Advocate for Change
Policy Project, 2006

The Target of Opportunity activity was designed and implemented in
partnership with the International Community of Women Living with
HIV/AIDS (ICW) in South Africa and Swaziland to build HIV-positive
women's capacity to raise awareness of their reproductive health needs
by creating and implementing advocacy plans to reduce policy and
operational barriers at facility, community, and national levels.

Scaling Up HIV Prevention Programs for Youth: The Essential Elements
Framework in Action
Margaret Sanger Center International (MSCI), 2005

In 2002, UNFPA invited Margaret Sanger Center International to help
design an approach that would help local NGOs [and governments and/or
private enterprises] throughout the world to expand, replicate or
improve their youth-focused HIV prevention programs. The framework
provides for assessment, a process of identifying and building capacity
in those areas that need most attention, and a system for monitoring and
evaluating the progress and results of the program. The Essential
Elements Framework has three dimensions: guiding approaches, program
strategies and managerial practices.
