The Panel Session will explore global issues around Gender,
Development, and Health, featuring speakers from around the world.
The Panel speakers will address the interface of Gender and HIV and
AIDS, reproductive health, nutrition and agriculture, and tobacco
control, engaging men and women in gender equality, and how gender
equality can lead to reduced vulnerability.

The objectives of the Panel Session are to explore the following
questions:
* What is understood by “Gender Equality”, and what is its
relationship with health in development?
* How does gender influence vulnerability in development and health,
and how can the impact of gender vulnerability be reduced?
* What is Canada’s development policy on gender and development,
particularly related to health? And how are these policies translated
into programs?
* What are some opportunities and challenges of engaging men and women
in working towards gender equality?

3. Paula Johns, REDEH, Brazil: Gender and Smoking in Brazil: Trapped
Between Lure and Guilt.
4. Shoba John, Program Director, HealthBridge, India: Engaging men in
Reproductive Health: Experiences from Bangladesh, India, and Vietnam.
