Hello friends,

On behalf of the Student University Network for Social and International
Health (SUNSIH) and the International Health Program (IHP), I would like
to invite you to be apart of an innovative skill building opportunity in
the fall of 2006 (Oct. 13th and 14th).

IHP and SUNSIH will be collaborating to run four workshops centered on
building the capacity of students and student organizations for civic
engagement and action. Student leaders from across Canada will be
attending these workshops at Canada’s University.

These workshops will be an integral component of the SUNSIH National
Conference, which will bring together Canada’s brightest young minds in
the field of global health and development

We are looking for facilitators from NGOs based in Ottawa (or
representatives of NGO’s that will be in Ottawa on the 14th of October
(the weekend before the Canadian Conference in International Health) and
student leaders to engage some of today’s leaders in interactive and
skill-building sessions. These capacity-building workshops will provide a
unique opportunity for both local and national NGOs to establish important
contacts with student groups and student leaders.

Your participation will provide you with the opportunity to share your
skills and knowledge with the next generation of policy makers and to
provide these soon-to-be leaders with a valuable perspective on how to
establish sustainability and longevity within their respective
organizations.

About IHP:
IHP is a student-based initiative at the University of Ottawa committed to
providing all students with the opportunity to contribute to international
health issues through peer education, event organizing, fund development,
liaising, project facilitation and campus-wide marketing. Our vision is
to build a vibrant and sustainable international health community at the
University of Ottawa that recognizes and appreciates all forms of
contribution and encourages collaborative global health work between
students, professors and administrators.

About SUNSIH:
Student University Network for Social and International Health (SUNSIH) is
an association of university groups and students dedicated to the
promotion and improvement of health, development, and social issues at the
local, national and international levels. Social health refers to the
health of communities, which we are a part of, while international health
refers to the health of communities of ethnic or minority origin within
Canada or health services provided in countries outside Canada. SUNSIH’s
objective is to act as a mediator between different student organizations,
provide educational material on international development and to give
students an opportunity to participate in research on international
development issues.
