Basic Salary: $45,413 at single rate; $48,824 staff member with primary
dependent (per annum net of taxes); Post Adjustment: $13,442 at single
rate; $ 14,452 staff member with primary dependents (per annum net of
taxes).

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental sciences from
a recognized university, with a postgraduate degree to the master's level
in sanitary engineering, public health engineering or environmental
engineering. Specialization in environmental protection and management,
pollution control and/or environmental impact assessment would be an asset.
Experience: Seven years of experience in progressively more responsible
positions dealing with environmental impact assessments (EIA)and its
repercussions in human health. Two years of participation in technical
cooperation projects and activities concerning environmental pollution
control and protection and/or environmental impact assessment.
Languages: Very good knowledge of Spanish or English with a working
knowledge of the other.

Minimum requirements:
Education: Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.
Postgraduate degree to the master's level in public health or health
administration, with specialized training in obstetrics or pediatrics,
maternal and perinatal health, human reproduction and reproductive health,
and/or family planning.
Experience: Seven years of experience in formulating, conducting, executing
and evaluating Maternal and Child Health and Family Planning programs and
projects at both the regional and national level.
Two years of participation in technical cooperation programs and activities
in human reproduction, reproductive health, maternal health and family
planning. Experience should include cooperation with international
organizations, the preparation and negotiation of grants, and the
management of externally funded projects.
Languages: Very good knowledge of English or Spanish with a working
knowledge of the other.

CSIH Seeks a Representative for a One-Day Consultation on Peacebuilding
--------------------------------------------------------------------
CSIH has been invited to participate in a one-day consultation with
Canadian NGOs to discuss options and priorities for the new Canadian
Peacebuilding Initiative. This consultation is one of the measures
undertaken by the Canadian Government under the Peacebuilding Initiative,
announced by Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy on October 30, 1996.
The consultation will take place on February 7, 1997 at the Department of
Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa.
CSIH is seeking a member who would be interested in representing the
Society. The representative should be familiar with how health issues
relate to peacebuilding, conflict prevention and post-conflict
reconstruction. The Society requires a short, telephone-based briefing
before the session, as well as a 1-2 page report focusing on ways the
Society could become involved. Any interested members should fax, mail or

Position in International Health

The Canadian University Consortium for Health in Development (CUCHID) is
seeking a temporary Executive Director for 5-10 months to develop, write
up, and obtain funding for a major project in the health informatics field.
Preference will be given to applicants with a proven management ability who
have developed and acquired funding for major grant proposals in the past
and who have an understanding of international health issues. Working

Call for Abstracts for the 14th Annual Meeting of the Association for
Health Services Research
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Association for Health Services Research is issuing a call for
abstracts for the 14th annual meeting. Abstracts are invited for three
different categories: research report sessions, open call for panel
session, and research report posters. The annual meeting will be held from
June 15-17, 1997 in Chicago, Illinois. The theme is "Issues and Answers for
Improving Health in the 21st Century." The deadline for the submission of
abstracts is February 15, 1997. For more information, and/or to obtain a
