After taking the survey, I thought, what are the opposites of poverty? Are
we addressing or considering these in terms of their impact on poverty? Are
we forever stuck on promoting income and social policies which attempt to
spread tax revenues/benefits around differently and apply instrumental
supports to those for whom the re-distributed income is insufficient? Are
there alternatives?

I have the highest regard for the Welfare Council, organizations, and
individuals who've given their lives to get existing policies and practices
into place. At the same time, the question arises, will adding, extending or
fine-tuning these policies and practices produce the just, equitable,
'fair-share' society we long for?

Regards to all in poverty, in practice and in policy
A. Simon Mielniczuk
