GRETA DOUCET asked:

"Has anyone in Canada done an analysis of what it would cost to provide
everyone with a living income versus spending so much time and energy
trying not to do so?"

How about this:

Canadian GDP is guessed at about $100 billion (is this true?)

Divide equally among 30million Canadians $100 billion annually approx =
$35000 each individual per annum

Assume half of GDP is distributed as Guaranteed Living Income = approx
$18000 per annum = $18000 / 26 biweekly = $692 biweekly per individual GLI

So Annual GLI cost:

30million Canadians, 26 bi-week pays per year,

Total pay-out = $692 per bi-week x 30million x 26 bi-weeks = $ 7.8 x
10exp11 annually = $5.4 x 10exp11 ie $540 billion annually - checks OK,
as half assumed CDN GDP.

Note:

1) Costs and savings of GLI distribution assumed to be positive saving
(which it probably will be - less complicated than present system), and,

2) Costs of living will reduce (which they will, since costs will be
reduced - by eradication of cost components that at present go to
unequal distribution mechanisms - rent, interest, dividends, and unequal
pay for work - all of which will be rendered inoperable by this form of
distribution.

Thanks for asking, Greta!
