PROJECT MANAGER

(18-MONTH CONTRACT) POSITION





The Community Social Planning Council is seeking to engage a full-time
contract Project Manager.  This position will be of interest to individuals
who have a proven track record in working with communities to identify and
address community needs and who enjoy working in a busy team environment
that is focused on community development and action.



This position encompasses the overall leadership and coordination of a
neighbourhood development project. The Project Manager will provide
leadership and coordination in the development of a neighbourhood vision
and a strategic plan to achieve that vision. In order to have full
participation of the community, the Project Manager will engage and create
effective working relationships among residents and public, private and
voluntary sector representatives.



Responsibilities and Job Duties



The responsibilities and job duties of the Project Leader include but are
not limited to the following:



Project Development and Management

Creates a base inventory of neighbourhood assets;
Conducts research on local needs and issues;
Through a community development process, works with the community to
implement the project plan;
Establishes key partnerships with residents, voluntary sector
organizations, government and business;

Establishes an advisory team made up of business, local, provincial and
federal government staff active in the community and voluntary sector
leaders;
Establishes a neighbourhood steering committee;

Develops a neighbourhood research and engagement plan;
Conducts a series of community forums and meetings;

Articulates how this project will benefit the community and neighbourhood;
Develops an overall project work plan;

Develops an evaluation framework and ensure that it is being followed;

Supervises the Community Engagement Worker Program Support staff;

Supports fund raising initiatives as required for the project;

Prepares progress and final reports;
Prepares a sustainability plan;

Qualifications/Skills



A minimum of five to seven years experience in community development work;

Demonstrated ability as a skilled project manager;
A highly effective communicator capable of building working relationships
with a wide range of stakeholders;
Demonstrated skills at resolving conflict and solving problems as they
arise;
Understands the range of government programs operating at the community
level and skilled in government relations;
Understands citizen engagement as critical for effective community change;
Brings a system and assets approach to community development and
understands community building principles acquired through related
experience and training;
Outstanding communication skills, with ability to grow and nurture
relationships;
Ability to work in, and respond to, a dynamic and changing environment;
Strong interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills, with experience
leading and motivating volunteers;
Extensive knowledge of the human services sector;
Good understanding of learning and knowledge management technologies;
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and Power Point;

The salary range for this position is $46,200. - $56,500. per annum.
