Seminar: Knowledge Transfer and Community-Hospital Integration

In the coming era of LHINs (Local Health Integration Networks), finding
practical and workable ways to coordinate hospital and community service
providers and to involve the community in health care planning are going to
be particularly crucial. Three of Wellesley Central's visiting scholars
will discuss how these challenges can be met:

Irving Gold, Director of Knowledge Transfer and Exchange, Canadian Health
Services Research Foundation, will analyze how effective knowledge exchange
techniques can help get community-based research and evidence, and the
lessons of front-line collaborations, taken up by decision makers and
planners.

Blake Poland, Associate Professor in Public Health Sciences at the
University of Toronto, will highlight research on the current state,
implications and future possibilities of community-hospital collaborations;

John Stevenson, Director of Community Integration and Urban Health at St
Joseph's Health Centre, will discuss lessons learned in building and
sustaining effective hospital and community service provider alliances and
networks;

We hope there will then be a lively discussion with researchers, service
providers and others in the audience on how to realize the potential of
community engagement and collaboration in health care planning.

When: Tuesday, February 28, 2006 9:30AM - 12:30PM

Where: Campbell Conference Facility, Munk Centre for International Studies,
University of Toronto.

How Much: Free.
