I agree with a previous post that income inequality could be wrapped up in the term 'classism'. However, I would argue more for Dennis' suggestion of inequity. Some worldviews treat income inequality as acceptable, maybe inevitable, and sometimes preferred; otherwise known as classism. Inequity recognizes that certain distributions of income/wealth are simply unfair. If a country garners a certain level of gross income or GDP/GNP, then vast income inequalities that conscript large numbers of adults and children into poverty is outright unfair. The construction of income inequalities as inequity would provide space for classists to remain (i.e. some level of income inequality will remain) while equitably providing all individuals with a basic basket of human and health services.

I suspect that I just made a circular argument. But, I am not sure.

Subject: [SDOH] Finding a concise word or term

Dear friends

The puzzle is how to phrase a concise set of words - even one word -
that nails income inequality as an evil to be eradicated.

Eg - homophobia, racist, sexism, gender discrimination - are all bads =
must be eradicated.

But a similar word or phrase for income inequality as an explicit bad -
I'm stumped for one.

?Incomeinequalityism? Poor bashing isn't it.

Any ideas?
