I wonder if this Study would hold in Canada? The challenge of
integration has been acknowledged to some extent, hence we have a
mosiac vs a melting pot (which honors the first phases of
integration) and that further, we have found a solution - through the
development of Multicultural agencies mandated to provide language
classes and settlement services, and which also tend to host social
events, a component of programming that seems to be widely
undervalued and misunderstood.

Unfortunately, governments have forgotten the reason for the creation
and exsistence of Multicultural agencies and they are terribly
underfunded. There are exceptions, such as Edmonton, which saw
immigration as solution to the labour shortage and where funding
comes not just from the Feds and the Province but also from the
municipality, they have a very diverse community. There is an actual
competition in the province between Calgary and Edmonton and Edmonton
has more immigrants on a per capita basis then Edmonton.

It would be interesting to replicate the study in Canada - and to
compare different cities and towns based on the policy toward
immigration in those cities or communties.
